The traumas that individuals experience are uniquely personal. Traumas are a combination of how your mind recalls what occurred, either acute or chronic, and how your body remembers it. Left unhealed, traumas can permeate every aspect of your life often altering the fundamental beliefs about your worth and potentially leading you down a path that perpetuates unhealthy patterns. I compassionately support clients from a holistic lens to guide integrated healing both in the nervous system as well as with your thoughts and behaviors.

Trauma
Trauma is the Greek word for wound. These wounds create a wide range of emotional and physical responses that can shift your perception of self as well as the lens through which you view the world. It can be the source of profound pain that often stems from three different aspects of the trauma:
The event
Your experience of the event
The impact the event has on your life
Trauma leaves an invisible imprint that influences how we live, how make meaning of the world, who we trust, and how we understand and perceive ourselves. The impact of trauma is complex and often far-reaching because it can affect our emotions, relationships, wellbeing, and often times our health. Healing from trauma is not a linear path, and triggers can surface suddenly leaving you feeling overwhelmed and equally as hurt as the initial trauma. Our work together will move at a slow pace that feels nurturing and comfortable so you can safely begin to reconstruct your sense of self and heal from the traumas in your life. Healing is a process that I skillfully and compassionately approach with patience, empathy, and understanding. I admire your courage to consider healing your trauma.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD is a complex condition that can affect individuals who have experienced both acute and chronic traumatic event(s). It is often a natural response for our bodies to feel threat and fear during and after traumatic incidents in order to protect ourselves. Some individuals may constantly feel on edge, as if they are always ready to fight, flee, freeze, or fawn from danger. These heightened states of alertness can lead to difficulties in various aspects of everyday life, including physical well-being, thought processes, behaviors, and emotions. Even if time has passed since the trauma, clients with PTSD can experience:
Feelings of re-experiencing such as vivid flashbacks, distressing thoughts, reoccurring dreams
Avoiding behaviors such as staying away from particular places or avoiding specific thoughts or feelings
Feeling more reactive such as being easily startled, having poor concentration, feeling tense, or having difficulty sleeping
Changes in mood such as finding it difficult to experience joy, poor concentration, and social isolation
You can begin healing from this suffering. It is crucial to acknowledge and address the impact of PTSD on both the mind and body in order to promote healing and overall well-being. I work with clients to begin identifying the brain's functioning and organization around traumas, understanding impulses, considering the role of regulating emotions, and exploring how to approach decision making. Together we will carefully and safely begin to unravel and make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as it relates to PTSD and the traumas that you have experienced.
